Slice, Dice & Rice - Review

Slice, Dice & Rice is a very simple fighting game that reminds me of those SNES games you saw at a Hollywood Video rental store and you looked at the cover and go, "This looks cool but I've never heard of it, maybe I should play it?"

You go home and enjoy the eye-popping graphics but you just didn't have fun. It didn't quite exactly sucked but just wasn't blowing you out of the water either. It just wasn't a memorable experience.

This is exactly what this game is.

The game mechanics are simple. You have 3 attacks and a parry button. You got a vertical, horizontal, and heavy attack. No health bars. One attack and you're dead meat, sucka.

First of all, the graphics look super cool and RADICAL, DUDE. I love the flashy graphics and feels very simple to the eyes. However, the gameplay felt very barebones to me and it quickly lost its flavor.

Their reasons however is to casualize the fighting game flavor so that more people can access it at a higher competitive level. Although I admire their efforts to bring in more people in the Fighting Game Community it has always fell flat and lost the very reason why fighting games are good in the first place: Complexity.

I couldn't force myself to play any longer. It just got boring real fast. In order to get good in this game you have to time everything. Mashing buttons will not work, son.

Now, I didn't want to give up on this game quite yet. There has to be some other modes to keep this game interesting enough for me to keep playing right?

Wrong. Here's the other modes. Story mode for all 8 characters.. Just a wall of text for the story before each match. Then you got versus mode for COUCH MULTIPLAYER. The thing that bothers me is that this game could have easily grown if this had online multiplayer but it doesn't. This is what ultimately killed this game in my honest opinion.

And last but not least training mode.

That's basically it, nothing memorable about it. Just kinda popped up on Steam and had no other redeeming qualities to it. If you had some extra cash, say.. 10 buckaroos laying around and wanted to play with your bros on something competitive.. Sure, why not? But then again there's plenty of other worthwhile couch multiplayer games way more worthy than this, like Nidhogg 2.

If you're looking for anything else it's not going to last long in your library.

Pros:

+Great graphics
+Simple, elegant gameplay

Cons:

-No online multiplayer
-Crappy story mode
-Lacks other modes/features, barebones.

2/5

My Top Ten Favorite Games of 2017

10.  Comedy Night (PC) Comedy Night is a game I almost didn't recommend because it felt more like a heavily relied social game experiment. You can sing, debate, and obviously make some jokes to spit on the mic with other users. Game exploded at launch and the developer is highly active on the game. Great to fucking around with people and just socialize in. On top of that it's cheap. 9.  Sky Rogue  (PC) Sky Rogue is your basic flight sim arcade game however has some very attractive low-poly visuals and procedurally generated missions. On top of that, has Steam Workshop to download other peoples aircrafts. I've downloaded Raiden aircrafts to the X-Wing. Great replay value at a decent price. Just got out of Early Access on Steam too. 8.  Iron Crypticle  (PC) A simple arcade game that's reminiscent of Robotron and Smash TV. You're an armored hero going through procedurally generated dungeons destroying an onslaught of baddie. The visuals ...

For those of you who are unaware of the game Joylancer it is a indie platforming game with some very slick gaming mechanics and was released on the Early Access Steam store in November of 2014. League of Legends has a ton of K-Pop references

For those of you who live under a rock League of Legends is one of the worlds largest and most popular multiplayer PC games at the moment. It is backed up by a strong esports community and is especially known to have the best players from Korea. With that being said though, it would be a no-brainer to include K-Pop references in League of Legends. Certain Champions have various skins you can purchase and included with them is their own exclusive dances which ties to a lot of K-Pop music videos. Check out the video below.
